ACTIVIST CALL ON EDO GOVERNMENT TO ACT ON INSECURITY IN THE STATE.

Human right Activist Comrade Osazee Edigin call on Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State. To immediately revisit the state security structure.

Few weeks ago, Edo state Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki summoned a security meeting wherein he engaged the Commissioner of Police, Assistant Inspection General of Police, Zone 5 and other security chiefs in Edo state to rise up to the occasion on the high rate of insecurity in the state.

He went further to promise taking care of police officers injured and rebuild police stations burnt by the hoodlums as a way of government shared commitment. He doesn’t have the powers to order the police.

As a governor of a state, he thought he couldn’t do more, realising that him being the chief security officer of the state is on paper only because security belongs to Abuja.

It’s evidently clear, the governor is yet to understand that there is a deliberate sabotage on security from Abuja hence the local police are showing somewhat inertia to return to duty. It will not take the police more than a week to bring everywhere to normalcy because they have the dossiers of the good, bad and ugly in the society.

The IGP is still angry because of the protests against his tactical teams that are actually set up for heavy financial returns. As a right activist, my engagements with the police have exposed me to deep inner workings of the police. If we are to expose certain things for public consumption, the unexpected will happen.

My advise remains that, the governor needs to assemble our sons and daughters who are security experts and other relevant stakeholders to fashion out the solutions to our current security challenges.

I am sure the governor will be shocked to learn that, the institutions he is expecting to fight insecurity are actually encouraging the current insecurity just to prove a point.

Let me leave it at this, not everything is worth putting out on a public domain.
