BREAKING; Police officer shot dead in Warri; gunmen escape with his AK-47 service riffle with double magazine

Delta state Police command has confirmed the death of a Police officer who was murdered in cold blood by an unknown gunman on Friday.

It was learnt that the officer was shot dead on Friday, at about 8:35pm along the NPA new port area of Warri.

It was gathered that his service rifle, an AK-47, was also carted away by the armed gunman.

According to an eyewitness account, the deceased officer was seeing someone off when he was attacked. It was said that he dropped dead on the spot.

In another incident, a young man was reportedly gunned down on Saturday in the Iyara area of Warri, Delta State.

According to unconfirmed reports, he was killed by suspected cultists from a rivalry group.

Meanwhile, the Police Public Relations Officer of Delta State command, DSP Onome Onovwakpoyeya, confirmed the killing of the Policeman to journalist on Sunday afternoon.

She said, “Yes, it is true, the Police officer was shot dead on Friday as he was seeing a someone off. His rifle was collected by his killer.”
