Caught in the act; Three notorious armed robbers arrested by Policemen after shootout


Three members of a robbery gang who have been causing mayhem in Iju Ota area of Ogun state, on November 12, were arrested by Police officers attached to the Ogun state Police Command.

DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, Ogun state’s Police Public Relation Officer, disclosed this information to the general public in a press release.

He said that the suspects, named Bamidele Oluwashina, Kehinde Adebowale and Oluwasegun Abayomi, were arrested following a distress call received by Police at Onipanu divisional headquarters at about 9:30pm.

He said that the caller told Police operatives that the deadly trio were robbing and dispossessing people of their valuables at iju love bus stop, adding that they were armed with dangerous weapons.

He said that the DPO of Onipanu division, CSP Bamidele Ishola Job, mobilised his men quickly after receiving the call. He also said that the robbers opened fire upon seeing the Police officers at the scene, he however, said that the Police fire power overwhelmed that of the criminals, causing them to flee, but one was arrested.

He said that the Police officers while searching for the fleeing members of the notorious gang, apprehended 2, who were trying to escape in a keke nepap.

Oyeyemi said that one Tosin Ajayi, a victim of the armed robbery attack was cut badly, but that he survived, and is currently receiving treatment.

He also said that the Police recovered a small locally made pistol and 2 live cartridge from the armed robbers.

He said that the Commissioner of Police, CP Edward Awolowo Ajogun, has also ordered the transfer of the suspects to the state CIID for further investigation and prosecution.
