A former chairman of the Delta State Primary Education Board (SPEB) now Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Chief Emmanuel Okumagba, has been installed as the new Orosuen of Okere Urhobo Kingdom in Warri South Local Government Area of the state.

The new traditional ruler is to be addressed as Okumagba II.

His emergence followed the demise of the Orosuen of Okere-Urhobo Kingdom, HRM Prof. Paul Oghenero Okumagba, Idama II.

Idama II, a Professor at the Sociology Department of the Delta State University, Abraka, joined his ancestors in July 2019.

Okumagba II was picked by kingmakers after rigorous selection process which culminated in his installation on Monday as the new monarch of Okere Urhobo Kingdom, Warri.

The new Urhobo monarch was crowned by the oldest kingmaker High Chief George Amurun, JP, at the Palace in the presence of other kingmakers and traditional chiefs.

It was gathered that Okumagba choice enjoys the support of majority of the kingmakers and the various Ruling Houses in the kingdom.

Until the emergence of Okumagba ll as the new traditional ruler of Okere Urhobo Kingdom, Warri, His Royal Majesty was a member of the Delta State Advisory and Peace Building Council of the Governor Ifeanyi Okowa’s administration.

He was one time a member of the Delta State University Governing Council and head of the Okumagba dynasty.

The new monarch was also the President-General, Okere Urhobo Kingdom, Warri, until his crowning on Monday.
