HOW ASUPA FORTETA DEGRADES HIS STATUS AS DELTA STATE LAWMAKER, BEATS UP POLICEMAN ON LAWFUL DUTY.

A member of the Delta State House of Assembly representing Burutu North constituency, Hon. Asupa Forteta, on Monday, allegedly beats up a Nigerian Police Officer, Sgt. Idikiri Okpako, serving with B Division Warri, Delta State.

The police officer and vigilante men were demoralized by the non cooperative attitude of the Honourable who enjoys the feel of knowing all police authorities that will punish the police officer. Members of the public testified that the police, specifically from B division Warri, has always been civil, professional in their approach to those on essential duties and noted that they should be motivated and commended for their professional policing and good conduct, as they carry out their assigned duties of enforcing the stay-at-home order.

It was gathered that trouble started when another police officer was speaking with Asupa in his car and the Sergeant asked his fellow officer about the identity of the person in the car. The question infuriated Asupa who resorted to argument and physical confrontation.

However, the then Divisional Police Officer (DPO), B’ Division, SP Andrew Inedegbor did not comment on the issue but noted that the matter is before the Former Warri Area Command of the Nigeria Police Force. An eye withness source told our reporter that Asupa called the commander of the Warri Area Command, who met Asupa and took the police officer into custody.

Some of the team members who were on duty with the embattled police officer are calling the State Commissioner of Police, Hafiz Mohammed Inuwa to release the detained police officer, adding that the police office was only doing his job.

Then after the honorable member gave the former area commander money to transfer the police after spending seven days in detection.

At the time of filling this report the police authorities did nothing to Asupa who many regard as a tout.
