Implement Judicial Panel Recommendations – Delta Based Niger-Delta Activist Tells Governor Okowa

By Etaifo Judith

In a press statement issued to newsmen in warri by Comrade Israel Joe, Secretary CDHR DELTA STATE

The Statement reads:_

AS a paramount proponent of the #EndSARS protesters in Delta State, we are seriously concerned about the delay of the implementation of the Judicial Panel report by Delta State Government.

The panel report has since been submitted to the governor months ago, Deltans home and abroad have been patiently waiting for the moment where they will celebrate justice against Police brutality, oppression, victimization, extortion etc.

The governor has showed serious commitment towards ending police impunity and we appeal he should act on the report immediately as Deltans are now disturbed and calling us endlessly on the matter.

The judicial panel report when implemented would mean a lot for justice, for those who witness firsthand brutality and injustice to whom the panel recommended compensation.

However, while we appreciate the good work done by the Delta State Commissioner of Police CP Ari Mohammed Ali in the reduction of crime especially the cult related activities in the state, has been reduced to the lest levels.

We also call on the CP to call the Sapele DPO to order as he has turned the police station to the den of extortion in Delta State.

The DPO in Otu-Jeremi should also ensure that his men who always mount checkpoint at Otokutu Bridge near Warri to collect 100naira each from motorist, keke riders and bus drivers should decease from such criminal act.”

We want to also demand a better remuneration and welfare for men and officers of the Nigeria Police Force.

“We Nigerians seek a review of the salary structure and other welfare packages for the police officers, for it is said that a hungry man is an angry man.

“It is high time we started treating our police officers well so that people can be encouraged to join the force. It is known all over that the composition of the Nigeria Police Force is far below average, porous and highly inadequate.”
