Suspected armed robbers on Wednesday attacked a popular hotel located on Abacha road, Maraba, in Nasarawa State.
It was gathered that the incident caused fear and confusion, as staff and guests of the hotel were terrified for their lives.
An eyewitness told newsmen that the armed robbers drove into the hotel premises in tricycle, and that they spent about 20 minutes inside the hotel plotting their moves, before they started robbing their victims.
The eyewitness said that the armed robbers were 4 in number, and that they threatened to kill anyone who doesn’t cooperate with them.
“It took the boldness of some of the hotel staff who confronted the 4 armed men who had threatened to bring down the hotel to avert tragedy.”
“They reportedly took to their heels afterward when an emerging crowd seemed to have overpowered them with each of them jumping on a motorcycle outside the hotel gate to escape before the arrival of Police, ” the eye witness said.
Meanwhile, there have been reports of robbery attacks on hotels in Nasarawa state of recent, according to sources, a week ago, there was an attack on a hotel in Nyanya about a week ago, and another was recorded at Ungwar Zamani, a few days ago, where it was gathered that 4 people died in the attack.
As of the time of filing this report, the Nasarawa state Police command is yet to react to the incident, however, THE NATIONS EXPRESShas reached out to the Police Public Relations Officer of the State, Nasel Rahman, for comment on the incident.
