Ex- Super Eagles couch, ex-players, Austin Eguavoen, Joseph Yobo, Christian Obodo and the Coach of the Super Eagles, Gernot Rohr stormed the famous Hussey College in Warri, Delta State as the President of the Nigerian Football Federation, NFF, Mr. Amaju Melvin Pinnick commissioned a mini-stadium, volley ball Court and two classroom blocks at the school’s premises.
In a remark, the NFF President, Pinnick said he did not carryout the project in the school because of Politics but because of the love I have for our people.
“I will never hold any political office in the whole of Nigeria.”
He commended the Delta State Governor, Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa for creating the enabling environment for Brown-Hill Foundation owned by him, to carryout the project in the school.
“They were very helpful. The Chief of Staff, please convey our thanks to the Governor of Delta State.”
He also used the opportunity to gift his class teacher, Mrs. Mercy .I. Onuwaje a “GAC brand new car.
Mr. Pinnick said his teacher in 1983 redefined his life after he failed and could not be promoted to form four.
Mr. Pinnick also appreciated another of his teachers, Mrs. Oganwu for the discipline she instilled in all her students including himself.
In a remark, the Delta State Governor Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa who was represented by his Chief of Staff, Mr. David Edevbie appreciated the management of Brown- Hill Foundation for putting the pitch in place.
In his words, “This pitch is probably one of the best pitches in Nigeria. It is going to set a pace for us as a Government. You’ve set a pace across Delta State.
From what Brown Hill has done, it means, you can achieve whatever you want if you put your mind into it.”
In a remark, the National President of Hussey College Old Boys Association,Mr. Emmanuel Ogidi commended the NFF President for gesture saying,”We’ve seen what he has done.”
While urging him (Pinnick) to continue the good works, Ogidi also enjoined other old students of the institution to always give back to their alma mater.
The Chairman of Brown-Hill Foundation, Mr. Andrew Bekederemor said the foundation began the 250 seater capacity mini-stadium and the regrassing of the pitch in 2011.
He noted that they sponsored 900 children and paid their school fees through Primary, Secondary, Universities and Polytechnics.
He added that the Foundation also empowered some youths with commercial tricycles, farming and in catering so that they can eke out a living for themselves as well as reduce the rate of crime in the Country.
On her part, the Principal of Hussey College, Mrs. Mayuku.A.A appreciated the NFF President, Pinnick for the gesture and assured that the school’s authority will do well to protect it.
